Val-de-Grâce [1, place Alphonse Laveran] is a military hospital that stands alongside the St Geneviève abbey. It initially functioned as a church and was spared during the French Revolution as its nun treated the injured revolutionaries. It then continued serving medicinal duties for the military and eventually became a full fledged hospital in 1979.
