Housed in the old residence of the hermit, symbolist painter Gustave Moreau, the Musée Moreau [14, rue de La Rochefoucauld, +33 148743850 www.musee-moreau.fr ad/ch €5/Free] is a lesser known museum in Paris. Created by the artiste himself, the museum features his old apartment, study (with a collection of rare books) as well as 2 large salmon-coloured studios filled with his canvases of vivid, symbolic (at times abstract) paintings. Watch out for masterpieces like the bright Jupiter and Sémélé and the extremely detailed The Daughters of Thespius.
