FRANCE PARIS cimetière montparnasseCreated in 1824, the Cimetière du Montparnasse [3 Boulevard Edgar Quinet, +33 144108650] has become an oddly popular tourist attraction. Functioning as the resting place of many famous intellects and artisans, many visitors flock to the cemetery to pay respects to their beloved thinkers and sight the unique tombstones that are adorned with interesting sculpures (e.g. that of Charles Pigeon and his wife on a bed). The cemetery houses several tombs, most notably that of Simone de Beauvoir, Samuel Beckett, Alphonse Boudard, Jean Seberg, Jean-Paul Satre and Constantin Branscusi (who also has a unique headstone that is topped with a sculpture of a couple embracing each other).
