Métabief Mont d’Or (pop 907) is located just 7km from the Swiss border and it is known for its breathtaking scenery, which is usually enjoyed on a pair of skis. Known as the region’s leading cross-country ski resort, Mébeif offers over 40km of ski slopes, parks and trails. With lifts operating all year round, you can access the highest peak in Mont d’Or (1463m) to catch a panoramic view well beyond Lake Geneva.

Besides the ski resort, this area also depends on milk production for income and it is famous for its unique Vacherin Mont d’Or cheese, which has been produced by the Sancey-Richard family since 1953. You can still check out the production of this cheese at the Formagerie du Mont d’Or [14 route des Alpes, +33 381490625 Free].
