BRITTANY MORBIHAN QuiberonQuiberon (pop 5,200) is the inflated southern tip of the silver-thin mainland connection at the Quiberon Peninsula. It is bordered by Côte Savuage (Wild Coast) at the west and is the fictional home of a Harry Potter Quidditch team.  Hence, its rugged cliffs and whitewashed buildings have made it a popular seaside resort.

D768 leads into the town, ending at Port-Maria, which has the beach on its east and the ferry harbour on its west. You can arrive via train at the seasonally operated station at rue de la Gare.

While there are some artificial attractions in Quiberon, like the Conservoire La Bell-lloise [Route Kérne    +33 297500877  www.labelleiloise.fr], which explains the town’s sardine cannery heritage; most visitors seem to prefer the natural attractions of Quiberon.

The La Grande Plage – a beach that lives up to its name, offering wide, sandy expanses and the Côte Savuage – offering windy walks, usually draw the crowds. However, you can’t partake in any nautical activities at the Wild Coast without a license, as the waters are rough.
